I'd start by having the participants visualize their ideal multimedia service or product.
Have them think about their favorite multimedia products. Then ask:
What are the most useful features?
What are harmful features that could be eliminated?
How could we reduce the size, mass, or energy required by the product (or service)?
Example: Participants say they like:
the iPod shuffle (small, portable, and easy to use),
big-screen TV's (large viewing area but not portable), and
Video on Demand (can conveniently download movies but can be expensive).
Resulting product might be a very small device that can plug into any flat screen HDTV or Video Monitor. It also comes with it's own portable flat screen that can be rolled up and put in your back pocket. The device has access to high-speed wifi and can download (via the web or one of several VOD services) and then immediately play or save movies for later playback.
You might as well make it rechargeable and have the back of the screen act as a Solar Panel while you are being Speculative.

I'm not sure what you are getting at with your question... could you please add more detail?
